What is it?
DigiD stands for Digital Identity and is the combination of a personal username and password. DigiD is used as a valid identification method on internet. This way organisations and the Dutch authorities know that they are in contact with you.
How does it work?
With a personal DigiD you can for example arrange the following matters:
- Dog taxes;
- Apply for child benefits;
- Register in the Dutch Donor register;
- Arrange services in your municipality;
- Arrange matters regarding your health insurance.
What should I do?
You can apply for a personal DigiD through the website: www.digid.nl/en/.(externe link) For doing this, it is necessary that you are registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP).
